Tectyl® 502-C is a solvent-cutback, soft-wax corrosion preventive compound that meets the performance requirements of MIL-PRF-16173E Grade 2, Class 2. It is designed to protect the insides of gearboxes without removal after installation, and to protect ferrous and non-ferrous parts in indoor or covered storage and during shipment. It cures to a dark amber, transparent, soft, greasy film.

Surface Preparation
For best results, the metal surface should be clean, dry and free from rust, oil and mill scale. The substrate temperature should be between 10°C and 35°C when you apply the product. Direct contact of Tectyl® 502-C with PVC can cause compatibility problems; test before use.
Application
Supplied ready to use. Do not thin.
Ambient and product temperatures should be between 10°C and 35°C.
Apply by low-pressure air spray or dipping.
Removal
While still wet: Remove with Tectyl® Biocleaner, Tectyl® 150 or low-pressure steam.
After drying and curing: Remove with Tectyl® Biocleaner or Tectyl® 150.
In gearboxes: No removal is needed; the film dissolves in the oil.
For gearbox use, confirm compatibility with the intended gear oil and the equipment manufacturer’s commissioning instructions before leaving the film in place.
Storage & Shelf Life
Store between 10°C and 35°C.
Do not allow the product to freeze.
Agitate gently before use; viscosity can change during storage.
When stored correctly, the product is best used within 36 months of the production date.
Coating Compatibility
The manufacturer does not recommend applying other coatings over or under Tectyl® 502-C, because this may cause chemical incompatibility and reduce performance. If you need a primer, please consult our technical team first. Where the TDS requires written authorization from CorPro for a primer, obtain that authorization before use; distributor advice does not replace it.
