Tectyl® 5401W RC is a water-based rust converter made with water-reducible chelating polymers and without phosphoric acid. It prepares rusted steel for a compatible protective coating and can also passivate flash rust on sandblasted steel. Manufacturer-listed uses include cargo holds, decks, hatch covers, pipelines, winches and rails.

Surface Preparation
Surfaces should be clean, dry and free of oil and mill scale, with a substrate temperature of 10-35°C. Remove loose rust; the converter reacts with adherent rust.
Application
Use as supplied; ensure uniform consistency and do not thin. Apply at 10-35°C by low-pressure air spray using a stainless-steel piston pump, or by brush. Follow with a compatible coating system after the required preparation and reaction period; confirm the complete system before application.
Removal
Removal: Tectyl® 5401W RC cannot be removed once applied.
Storage & Shelf Life
Store between 10°C and 35°C.
Do not allow the product to freeze.
Best used within 36 months of the production date.
